My Million Dollar Startup – An Innovative Business Funding Idea
Morton Grove, IL - Shay Armstrong has
launched My Million Dollar Startup website. What makes
this million pixels website different from the multitude of others that
have sprung up since Alex Tew’s phenomenal success with his “Million
Dollar Homepage” and all the media coverage of the auction for
the last 1,000 pixels is what he is trying to accomplish.
Pixels refer to dot on a grid that makes up an image in
a photograph. It is the unit used to describe the size of an image on
the internet such as 10 x 20 pixels. Basically, anyone can buy advertising
on these million pixel web pages by purchasing enough pixels to display
their ad. A hyperlink is added to the ad so visitors to the million
pixel web page can click through to the owner’s website. The price
for ads is a one-time charge of $1 per pixel.
Mr. Armstrong is trying to raise the seed money
for a new business venture he has been working on for the past 18 months.
According to Mr. Armstrong, “I was just getting to the point where
I was almost ready to submit my business proposal to venture capitalists
looking for additional funding when I saw the news coverage of Alex
Tew’s success. I though if I could find a way to use the “pixel”
craze to fund my business idea.”
Armstrong is running a contest for a Mega Banner.
The Mega Banner is a large prominent banner across the top of the million
pixel web page. All pixel purchasers are automatically entered. After
all the pixels are sold, two random numbers will be drawn corresponding
to the row and column number of a pixel. The owner of that pixel will
get to use the Mega Banner for as long as the site is on the internet.
Armstrong hopes that My Million Dollar Startup will draw
media attention and make that Mega Banner a very valuable piece of internet
real estate.
Since this is the first time a startup business is trying
to raise money using a method like this, the eyes of
the business world will be watching carefully to see whether it is a
success.
